The 5 Love Languages for Writers

Writing poetry (or anything, for that matter) is an amazing release and an act of love in its own right, but it can also be a frustrating process.

No matter how much I believe in my words, it’s still nice to receive encouragement from others. To help you love on the writers in your life, here are 5 ways you can encourage a writer, as adapted from the five love languages:

Words of affirmation

Tell your friend all the things you love about their writing and why.
Be genuine. We love to hear what
resonates with you!

Bonus: If they have a book, leave a review!
*ahem… Squarespace has a new feature where you can leave reviews for products.

Quality time

Invite your writer friend to coffee and ask them about their latest piece. Coffee with a friend who is interested in learning more about our projects gives us the warmest fuzzies.

Gift Giving

I’ve never known another group of people more excited about fresh notebooks and nice pens than writers.

Acts of Service

No one likes proofreading their own work. Writers are so thankful when someone offers a fresh set of eyes.

Physical Touch

Writing is HARD. A literal pat on the back or a fist bump to acknowledge the talent it takes to create something is often enough to keep us writing through funks.

These ways to encourage writers may seem simple, but I promise they will mean the world to all the poets, authors, and imagineers in your circle.
